TWC’s Sarah Coleman and Jayne Webb hosted a Webinar to present latest trends in the Independent Convenience Store Channel
Over 70 industry executives joined us for our review where we presented latest retail EPOS data from SmartView Convenience (SVC) – the most representative ‘market read’ for independent convenience stores in GB.
- Whilst overall channel performance reflects testing times for the wholesale-supplied convenience channel, there were pockets of positive news behind the topline declines we initially shared.
- During the webinar, Jayne noted the strong performance of ARTD’s, fractional spirits, stimulation energy drinks, own brand crisps, seasonal confectionery, snack meals and coffee, amongst other categories.
- She also shared that 30 brands increased their volume sales by over 1mn units in YTD Aug 24 (vs YD Aug 23) in the independent convenience channel, driving a combined £150mn growth for these brands.
- As always, this is a good reminder of the importance of looking beyond the headlines to understand what is going on within a channel, a category or a brand. SmartView Convenience is the perfect tool for this within the independent convenience sector due to our robust methodology and representative sample of stores.
